Rubber dam isolation should be an easy and relaxed protocol ment to help dentists improve their daily performance and make them feel good about their work and results.
I have observed my colleagues working and placing the Rubber Dam and although they were following everything they have learned from The Rubber Dam Master Course, I’ve still noticed that they struggle when performing the isolation and I tried to understand the reason why.
I have noticed that the struggle was because of the position of the hands in relation with the position of the eyes while placing the clamps.
This is equally important as the techniques and all the tips and tricks described in Rubber Dam Master Course.
For an ergonomic isolation workflow, handling the components should be fast and precise, not only for you as practicians but also for the patient, who might be concerned about your skills if they notice a considerable struggle from your side.
All the small flaws and hesitations will be interpreted by the patient as lack of skills and experience and you might be an excellent restorative dentist but the patient looses confidence before you begin
Rubber-dam is a technique sensitive procedure that can be so frustrating for both the dentist and the patient without knowing all the tips and tricks.
In this module you can see in the smallest detail every single move and gesture of the hands, while placing the clamps and handling the rubber dam components - in all scenarios possible.
I’ve produced this explanatory video using 3 synchronised cameras to show you the action in the same time from 3 different angles:
- one is a general view so you can see the position of the hands and posture
- another one is from up to show a close up of the patient
- the third one is a camera attached on my loupes and it is filming all the details magnified, intraorally .
I'm sure you will enjoy this protocol!
